86th Academy Awards 2014 | Red Carpet Dresses & Tresses
Last night saw Hollywood’s finest grace the red carpet for what was the 86th Annual Academy Awards Ceremony in California, USA. It was a night of tears, triumphs and twitter-record-breaking-selfies; with the leading ladies of Hollywood in particular bringing out their best Oscar-worthy looks.
We can always rely on our favourite celebrities to showcase some daring new hair styles and bold fashion looks for the mother of all awards ceremonies; and last night didn’t disappoint. Here’s our pick of the best hairstyles to hit the Oscars red carpet this year…
Iconic Hollywood Waves
A timeless hair trend that swept through last night’s red carpet was loose, 40′s inspired Hollywood waves. Aussie-born nominee Margot Robbie revealed a dramatic hair makeover, opting for a new gothic style raven-hue hair colour, styled into iconic tumbling tresses. Cate Blanchett oozed Hollywood glamour with her blonde waves brushed to the side, whilst Sandra Bullock wore her brunette locks in tumbling curls, also to one side.
Chic, Daring Crops
One of 2013′s biggest hair trends, the short pixie crop could be seen on Hollywood darlings Jennifer Lawrence, Charlize Theron and Anne Hathaway to name but a few. Jennifer Lawrence’s blonde highlights were brushed back, whilst Charlize Theron opted for a classy, stright and sleek side part.
Ultimate Up Do’s
Penelope Cruz looked fabulous wearing her brunette waves up in a high, regal bun, whilst Olivia Wilde looked effortlessly chic with her messy up do. Lady Gaga’s structured low-loop bun was also a hit on the red carpet.
We could not overlook Hollywood’s hottest hunks giving us a mix of different looks from Jared Leto displaying his perfectly omdre-ed flowing locks to Brad Pitt who looks fantastic with this super tight disconnected hairstyle and finally the Wolf of Wall street star Leonardo DiCaprio with this perfectly groomed classic side part.
